4th IEEE-EMBS: “From Terahertz Imaging to Telehealth Technologies”
4th IEEE-EMBS International Summer School and Symposium on Medical Devices and Biosensors (ISSS-MDBS)
Aug. 19-22, 2007
St Catharine’s College, Cambridge, UK
The 4th International Summer School and Symposium on Medical Devices and Biosensors (ISSS-MDBS), sponsored by the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (IEEE-EMBS), will be held at St Catharine’s College, Cambridge University, UK from 19-22 August 2007. The theme is “From Terahertz Imaging to Telehealth Technologiesâ€Â. Terahertz imaging and spectroscopy techniques have progressed rapidly over the last decade and numerous medical applications are currently being explored. This combined summer school and symposium is intended to promote awareness of terahertz technology in the medical field and to inform terahertz scientists of the latest advancements in medical devices and telehealth, with a view to integrating terahertz technology into medical devices in the future. In the symposium sessions, invited and contributed talks will describe original work in research and development. There will also be poster sessions of additional contributed work. The summer school sessions will include informative tutorials about the main topics of interest (listed below) and laboratory tours will be held on 22nd August giving scientists from all backgrounds further opportunities to broaden their knowledge of medical science. This event directly precedes the 29th Annual International Conference of IEEE-EMBS in Lyon (23-26 August) themed “Sciences and Technologies for Healthâ€Â.
Who Should Participate:
1. Faculty members, researchers and students with an interest in terahertz technologies, medical devices or telehealth.
2. Researchers and engineers from public and private sectors with interest in the latest emerging technological developments in medical devices and their clinical applications.
