Terahertz Senior Research Scientist

The UKs National Physical Laboratory (NPL) are searching for an enthusiastic Scientist with a good understanding of Terahertz Measurements to join the NPL Communication Technologies Group, which undertakes a range of metrology-orientated research including high-speed waveform analysis, wireless interference and propagation, antenna profiling and the health and safety of electromagnetic fields exposure.
The group’s Terahertz capability includes femto-second pulse spectrometers, Dispersive Fourier Transform Spectrometers (DFTS) and grating-based monochromators. Our Terahertz metrology activities are unique and include power, wavelength, penetration depth, spatial resolution, emissivity, and innovative Terahertz spectroscopy.
We are seeking an experienced scientist to join the Terahertz team to help expand our capabilities in metrology, near field probing and security imaging.
The successful applicant should be able to demonstrate
• A good understanding and practical knowledge of Terahertz measurement, current applications and metrology issues.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills with an ability to build and develop internal and external science networks.
• An ability to work as part of a team
• A proactive approach with excellent problem solving abilities.
In addition the successful applicant will be encouraged to develop their own scientific research programme, search for funding opportunities, publish peer-reviewed papers and attend conferences.

The post will be offered on a permanent contract basis with an expected salary between £25,000 – £35,000 depending on experience.
