ICAVS5: 5th International Conference on Advanced Vibrational Spectroscopy

Melbourne, Australia 12-17 July 2009
The aim of the conference is to bring together scientists employing and developing various techniques in vibrational spectroscopy. A special emphasis will be on new spectroscopic methods, imaging techniques, and theoretical approaches. The conference will be focused on molecular problems where the spectroscopic approach is considered to be crucial.
Scientific Topics include:
Analytical science, Atmospheric, planetary and interstellar chemistry, Biochemistry, biology and biomedicine, Chemometrics, Gas spectroscopy and monitoring, High resolution spectroscopy, Hyphenated techniques, Infrared and Raman spectroscopy, Instrumentation and new techniques, Microspectroscopy and imaging, Near field techniques, Near infrared spectroscopy, Nonlinear techniques, Process monitoring, Spectral enhancement, Surface techniques, Synchrotron infrared spectroscopy, Terahertz spectroscopy and imaging, theoretical and computational methods, Time resolved and coherent methods, Two dimensional spectroscopy, Vibrational Optical Activity.
Conference Venue
The conference will take place on the campus of Melbourne University, situated on the edge of the beautiful city of Melbourne and at the heart of Melbourne’s world class research facilities. The university is served by an efficient tram service but is also within walking distance of both the main Melbourne shopping areas and the cosmopolitan restaurant rich area of Carlton. Melbourne can be reached directly by air from numerous cities in Europe, Asia and America and provides easy access to Australia’s major tourist attractions for pre or post conference trips. The airport is served both by major carriers and by budget airlines.
Exhibition
A technical exhibition of spectroscopic equipment and services will be held during the meeting.
Social program
There will be an active social program with mixers at famous Melbourne venues, a mid week trip to the high class winery areas around Melbourne and to the world famous Australian animal sanctuary at Healesville. Be prepared for an eclectic mix of entertainment and culture during the conference week.
The conference opening and mixer event will take place on the Monday night at historic government house, situated beside Melbourne’s famous botanical gardens. The conference dinner on the Thursday evening will take place in the Great Hall at the National Gallery of Victoria.
Workshops
There will be 3 pre-conference workshops (free of charge) where all delegates and exhibitors are welcome to take part. Companies are welcome to explore further ideas for workshops with the organizers.
